Want to Learn What Fuels You? Introducing the Nexus Profile

I wanted to share about my favorite personality and strength assessments so we are jumping into the first one here called the Nexus Profile. Sterling and Stone coach Patty Myers uses this assessment and teaches about it as well. We use it in our nonprofit and ministry work among the staff and I’m going to share my results with you in a bit.

The Nexus Profile is an assessment that focuses on four main motivators that help you identify your true self so you can use this knowledge to succeed at what you’re called to do in life. It helps you understand what fuels you, and I think it's really important that you know what kind of gas you need to put in your car if you want to get very far. Don't you?

The four types are:

  • DRIVER

  • INFLUENCER

  • SOLUTIONARY

  • STABILIZER

Everyone is a unique blend of all four types, so there’s no wrong or right version of you. Generally speaking, most people have a ‘dominant type,’ but you can also tie between two or three types.

There are four MOTIVATORS (the motivation behind “why you do what you do”):

  • DRIVERS are motivated by PROGRESS

  • INFLUENCERS are motivated by RELATIONAL UNITY

  • SOLUTIONARIES are motivated by SOLUTIONS

  • STABILIZERS are motivated by BALANCE

There are four ethics (the reason behind the motivator):

  • DRIVERS want DETERMINATION

  • INFLUENCERS want CONNECTION

  • SOLUTIONARIES want UNDERSTANDING

  • STABILIZERS want INFORMATION

There are four POSITIVE CONFLICT Strategies:

●  DRIVERS could COMPEL TO POSITIVE PROGRESS

●  INFLUENCERS could CAST VISION + ENCOURAGE

●  SOLUTIONARIES could LISTEN + ASSESS WITH INQUIRY

●  STABILIZERS could ASK FOR INFORMATION + BALANCE

There are four NEGATIVE CONFLICT Strategies:

●  DRIVERS may INTIMIDATE

●  INFLUENCERS may MANIPULATE

●  SOLUTIONARIES may DECONSTRUCT

●  STABILIZERS may WITHHOLD

There are six blends, based on combinations of each of the four types.

NEXUS TYPE

BLEND TYPE

STABILIZER/DRIVER or DRIVER/STABILIZER

OBJECTIVE

DRIVER/INFLUENCER or INFLUENCER/DRIVER

INSTINCTIVE

INFLUENCER/SOLUTIONARY or SOLUTIONARY/INFLUENCER

VISIONARY

SOLUTIONARY/STABILIZER or STABILIZER/SOLUTIONARY

CONSCIOUS

STABILIZER/INFLUENCER or INFLUENCER/STABILIZER

EMPATHETIC

SOLUTIONARY/DRIVER or DRIVER/SOLUTIONARY

INDEPENDENT

Using my Nexus Profile as an example, my scores were 39 solutionary, 28 driver, 22 influencer, and 15 stabilizer. So my blend is independent because my top two are  solutionary/driver. My husband is a driver/influencer. So we both want forward progress but I want to have a solid strategy and fix things along the way but he wants to just take action. And because we are all a blend of the four types, I can still tap into the influencer and stabilizer of course, and I think I probably had more stabilizer in me 22 years ago before I met my husband and had to let go of a lot of ideas I had about staying who I was after marriage.

I’ll tell you that one thing I learned here was that if you’re like me at all and love coming up with new ideas and it can sometimes get you stuck in inaction or chasing a thousand different butterflies so that you get nothing done, you might be a solutionary. Or an influencer, because they both are creative with vivid imaginations and love brainstorming. I literally built my business with a desire to have the opportunity to create and imagine whenever I want to. I think it’s the essence behind being a possibility coach. I see so many possibilities and I want to show them to you so you can pick one. And because of my gift of detachment, I am not concerned with whether you choose one of my ideas or not. I’ll come up with more if you need me to or I’ll help you come up with your own. I’m more concerned with the creative process than anything.
